LiB₃O₅(LBO) is a high-performance nonlinear optical crystal. It offers a broad transmission range (160–2600 nm) and high frequency doubling efficiency—approximately three times that of KDP crystals. LBO is slightly hygroscopic and has a relatively large nonlinear coefficient. It is commonly used in medium- to high-power 1064 nm second and third harmonic generation (SHG, THG) lasers, as well as in optical parametric oscillation (OPO) and optical parametric amplification (OPA) systems for medium- to high-power lasers.
Extremely high damage threshold
Very small walk-off angle
Good mechanical properties and strong thermal shock resistance
