Compared with Nd:YAG, Nd:YVO₄ has a larger stimulated emission cross-section for pump light and a higher absorption coefficient. It is an excellent laser crystal, especially suitable for laser diode pumping, particularly in low to medium power laser systems. It can be used to fabricate all-solid-state lasers that emit near-infrared, green, blue, and ultraviolet wavelengths.
