An Off-Axis Parabolic (OAP) mirror is a segment taken from a larger parent parabolic surface, offset from its central axis. This unique design enables its core function: to focus incident collimated light onto a single point without aberration, or to collimate light from a point source into a perfect beam, with all light deviating from the parent parabola's mechanical axis.
